MEDICARE

If you are eligible, your General Practitioner can provide you with a Mental Health Care Plan for up to 10 rebated sessions per calendar year. With a Mental Health Care Plan, you will pay the session fee in full and then we will process your Medicare rebate on the spot. The current Medicare rebate for a 50-min session is $141.85, leaving an out-of-pocket cost of $73.15.

Medicare will only provide rebates for assessment sessions where there is a relevant Complex Neurodevelopmental Disorder referral in place. This referral needs to be provided by a Paediatrician or Consultant Psychiatrist and is only available for individuals up to the age of 25  years. The referral can be used for up to four assessment sessions, and the rebate in this instance will be $96.55 per 50-min session.

NATIONAL DISABILITY INSURANCE SCHEME (NDIS)

Coastal Psychology Services can provide psychology sessions to NDIS participants who are plan-managed or self-managed. You will need to refer to your NDIS plan to see how much funding you have available for psychology. If you are an NDIS participant you do not need a referral. NDIS will cover the full session fee for clients with a NDIS plan with relevant psychology funding.

PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE

Many private health care funds provide rebates for psychology sessions. You will need to contact your health fund to find out your level of cover. With private health cover, you will pay the session fee in full and then we will issue you with a receipt so you can claim your rebate online. You do not need a referral if you are using private health insurance.
